Living Richly

Matthew 21:1-9

Colossians 3:16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Do you have a passion? Did you get married? Was that person your passion? What did you talk about? The other person. What did you think about? The other person.

We are to have the Word of God dwelling in us richly. So richly that it consumes us. We should be passionate about it. Be filled… and not in small amounts.

Proverbs 4:20 - My son, give attention to my words;

Incline your ear to my sayings.

Do not let them depart from your eyes;

Keep them in the midst of your heart;

For they are life to those who find them,

And health to all their flesh.

Who is supposed to sit on the throne of your heart? Jesus! Let Christ rule and reign.

1 Corinthians 7:1 - Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Keep yourself pure both physically and spiritually.

Colossians 2:11 - In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

Trim off the sin and keep yourself pure and holy.

We need to rule over our bodies, even when they resist and fight back. It needs to be held under subjection to your spirit. If you keep it subject to your spirit and your spirit is subject to God, your body will be subject to God as well.

Let Jesus sit on the throne of your heart.

Colossians 3:15-17 - And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Let the peace of God rule… that means God is in control.

If we don’t have peace about something, we shouldn’t say it or we shouldn’t do it. Sometimes it’s a timing issue. The right this isn’t the right thing at the wrong time. Allow God’s peace rest upon your thoughts and deeds.

John 14:15-18 - And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

If you don’t have peace, seek out why. How do you address it? Seek God’s council, read the Word, pray about it.
