Stay Focused

Be careful about getting caught up in the distractions of life.

Mark 4:39 - Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

The storm was a distraction. Jesus didn’t let the distraction take center stage. He spoke to the distraction and stopped it. The wind will always blow in our lives, so let us talk to it and command it out of our lives.

Don’t let distractions steer us from our goals… the goal of serving Jesus Christ.

Calm the storm, speak to it, talk to it. Whatever is riling the water, rebuke it. God leads us by still waters, why walk with anything else?

How do we do this? We turn to the Holy Spirit. Ask for help and direction. He will always speak God’s Word to you. Open the Bible and it will make give you guidance on every possible struggle you may have. Then meditate on what you read.

Don’t EVER focus on the weeds. Just focus on Christ. If you do that, the other things will take care of themselves. Don’t let the distractions be on your mind. Pay attention what God tells you, either through the Spirit or the Word.

How can we accomplish the task at hand (to be a minister… which simply means to be a helper or to serve). We can’t do that when the distractions are taking over.

We cannot bear the fruit we need to bear if the distractions keep us from seeing God’s plan, from following His will, and serving like we should.
