Our HIStory

Building History

First Christian Church began in the late 1800’s when Trinidad was strictly a mining town. The first large building that housed the church is now Rino’s Italian Restaurant.
Our current building was constructed in 1922 and resides one block South of the previous building at 200 South Walnut.
EXTERIOR
Brick is the primary component of the exterior of the building. It is trimmed with concrete and white stucco. The roof is covered in green terracotta shingles. Some iron work is visible in the front.
INTERIOR
Though the building has seen several changes throughout the years, it still retains much of its original architecture.
Arches and moldings are prominent throughout the sanctuary, and wood trim is visible throughout the building.
The pews are wooden, with red padded cushions. There is gray carpet covering the walkways and stage.
There is a complete basement with high ceilings. This is where we host special church functions, have Sunday School class, and host our weekly J.E.T. Youth Group Wednesday service.
TODAY
Even 98 years after its construction, our church building is still beautiful. We are excited to invite everyone in to discover our close-knit church family and to learn about the powerful gospel message of Jesus Christ and the salvation offered freely.
