Name Above All Names

Halloween is the devil’s playground. That does not mean he has all power.

Jesus said all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. Philippians 2 says God highly exalted Him and gave Him a name above every name—that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. Colossians says He delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. He spoiled principalities and powers and led them in triumphal procession. We have had it backward. The ones who know their authority in that name are not the ones who should be afraid.

John 16:23–24 gives us the legal right to use His name. Whatever we ask the Father in His name, He will give us. Praying in the name of Jesus is praying the living Word. When we do that according to Scripture, the situation passes out of our hands and into His. It is no longer our problem. From that point we thank Him, and we leave it there. We do not take it back. Mary and Martha’s brother died four days “late,” and the answer was still on time. God will not force wills; that is why some answers take longer. Our part is faith.

Mark 16 says these signs shall follow those who believe—in My name: cast out demons, speak with new tongues, lay hands on the sick and they recover. We fight on our knees. The name moves heaven, earth, and hell. Laugh at the enemy. He is a toothless lion. The victory is already ours.
