Authority and the Signs that Follow

Nov 1, 2026  •  Pastor Cary T. Nelson, PhD

Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights. Jesus came that we might have life, and have it in abundance. The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. If it steals, kills, or destroys, it is not from God.

Isaiah 53. Read it every day this week. Jesus redeemed spirit, soul, and body. We have the down payment now. Mark 16 says these signs shall follow them that believe—in My name: cast out demons, speak with new tongues, lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. The Greek word is “accompanying.” The signs travel right along with the believer because Jesus gave us the legal right to use His name. It is like having a signed check on His account. All authority in heaven and on earth is in that name. The word is exousia—jurisdiction. He delegated it. We lost dominion in the garden. Jesus bought it back. The gates of hell shall not prevail against the church. Whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven. Whatever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven. When sickness, lack, or oppression comes against your home, you do not only ask God to remove it. You take the name of Jesus and cast it out. The husband is the head of the house. If he will not, the wife steps in. Government is on His shoulders—the shoulders of the body. Rise up in that name.
