Faith Working Through Love

You already have faith. Don’t let the devil talk you out of it.

Faith comes by hearing the Word. If you have been in Scripture, you have more faith than you think. Ephesians 3:20 says God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think—according to the power that works in us. The question is not whether the power is available. The question is whether we will let it work.

Galatians 5:6 says that in Christ neither keeping the law nor ignoring it produces the result we need. Faith does—when it is energized by love. Faith is the dishwasher. Love is the outlet. Unplugged faith just sits there. Plugged into the God-kind of love, it produces the desired result, and nothing that happens in the meantime can stop it if you refuse to pull the plug.

Eve heard a promise, lost a son, named another, and kept standing. About four thousand years later the Seed came. Colossians 3 says put on mercy, kindness, meekness, forgiveness—and above all put on love, the twine that holds the bale together. Love God first. Stay plugged in. Give Him the thing in your heart that is bigger than you are.
